Alphadex was designed to manipulate estrogen from two pathways.
In the Big Pharma world, you have compounds known as Aromatase
Inhibitors (AIs) and Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators (SERMs). In
formulating Alphadex, we wanted to manipulate both pathways.
AROMATASE INHIBITION
As stated earlier, aromatase is the enzyme responsible for converting
testosterone to estrogen. By blocking this enzyme, it stops estrogen
from being produced. We decided to use three unique compounds that
attack this enzyme.
Brassaiopsis glomerulata (20:1) extract
This herb has gained a lot of attention in recent years due to its
potent aromatase inhibition. In a recent study, three isolated compounds
were shown to have strong inhibition and one compound (dehydrolololide)
was compared to one of the strongest aromatase inhibitors known. But
what the researchers failed to highlight in the graphs is the full herb
showed stronger inhibition than pure dehydrolololide. In fact, it was 3
TIMES more potent. We opted to use the full herb due it is potent
effects, but in an industry first 20:1 extract ratio. This makes our
specialized extract, engineered exclusively for Myokem, 20 times more
potent than the herb used in the study.
Garcinia mangostana extract (std. min. 9% Gamma Mangostin)
Now we could have easily stopped with the first herb, but we are not
going to settle. Mangosteen extract has been shown to be a potent
aromatase inhibitor, again, rivaling one of the strongest AIs known. And
Gamma Mangostin, a xanthone found in mangosteen, showed a stronger
effect. Now we searched high and low to get the best standardization for
Gamma Mangostin, but because it’s chemical structure is so similar to
Alpha Mangostin it makes it incredibly difficult to isolate. The highest
concentration that was feasible was 9% and that is what we decided to
use (and trust us, this stuff is not cheap). The development of this
product was to make it the strongest in its class, so no sacrifices were
made.
Acacetin
Lastly, acacetin was added to round out the three powerhouse AIs in
Alphadex. Acacetin is found in the damiana plant and one of the only
natural compounds found to have anti-aromatase AND anti-estrogen
activity. It was shown to reduce aromatase activity by up to 63% while
having no estrogenic activity.
ESTROGEN RECEPTOR MODULATION
Safflower seed extract (std. min. 10% Tracheloside) Often times, even
with very strong AIs, not all of the aromatase is blocked. Thus, some
testosterone can still be converted to estrogen and is able to act on
the estrogen receptor to do its harm. Estrogen receptor modulators bind
to the estrogen receptor acting as a “shield” from estrogen and stop it
from activating. To help control this, we have included Tracheloside, a
compound found in safflower seed extract. This compound has rivaled one
of the best estrogen receptor modulators. This way, any testosterone
that gets converted to estrogen will be stopped for wreaking havoc on
your physique.
